MARK RAE
Hailing
from the UK, Mark Rae made his mark in Europe’s music scene
following the success of his first collaboration, Rae &
Christian, as well as establishing the former Grand Central
Records and Manchester’s Fat City record shop. Mark has
produced over 100 remixes for artists including Bob Marley,
Jay-Z and Dinah Washington as well as the Six Feet Under
theme song. Under Rae & Christian, he released two
albums including Northern Sulphuric Soul which ranked on
the Top 50 British Dance Albums of All Time. For his latest
poject, YESKING, Mark partnered up with Rhys Adams.
Although conceived in Jamaica, Yesking remains true to
their UK influences. The album features guest vocalists
including Ayak (2004’s Prince’s Trust Urban Music Awards
winner), Dawn Penn (‘No, No, No’), Veba, Tor, Mystro, Kenny
Knots, Sweetie Irie, Baby Chann (Suncycle), Prezident Brown
(Hi Power Soundsystem) and Pete Simpson. Fusing elements of
hip hop, dancehall, reggae and ska with live
instrumentation and crunchy hip hop/R&B beats, the CD
offers up the goods for everyone from young hip hop fans
right through to old school reggae lovers. As a solo
artist, Mark has released two albums, RAE ROAD (2002) and
INTO THE DEPTHS (2004) and is currently working on his
third.
